Please complete this form to request the access code to Sprintax, an online tax preparation software specifically for nonresident aliens for tax purposes at The University of Texas at Dallas.
Before you begin, please note:
1. Please make sure you are a nonresident alien for tax purposes AND received U.S. source income in 2024 before requesting access to Sprintax.
- If you are a nonresident alien for tax purposes but did not receive any U.S. source income in 2024, you do NOT need Sprintax access. You only need to follow the instructions in the Form 8843 Tutorial Video to complete and submit Form 8843 to the IRS.
- U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, and resident aliens for tax purposes CANNOT use Sprintax.
- The access codes provided by UTD apply to 2024 federal tax return ONLY (Form 1040NR for tax year 2024). If you want to use Sprintax to file a prior tax year's federal tax return, state tax return, amended tax return, FICA refund, or ITIN Application, you are responsible for the costs associated with filing these. (No state tax return is required in Texas.) Approximate costs are listed below:
- Prior Tax Year's Federal Tax Return: from $51.95
- State Tax Return: from $44.95
- Amended Tax Return (Form 1040X): from $79.95
- FICA Refund (Form 843): $15.95
- ITIN Application: $15.95
2. Form 1098-T is a tuition statement, which is often used by U.S. persons to claim education tax credits. However, nonresident aliens for tax purposes are NOT eligible for education tax credits and should NOT include Form 1098-T on the tax return forms, even if the form is issued to you.
3. Your requests will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis, and please do not submit duplicate requests. You may need to check your spam folder for your access code email.
4. For questions related to Sprintax, please contact Sprintax at their 24/7 Live Chat function.
